Ever since Beyoncé shocked us all with her secret album release, celebrities seem to also think this is a brilliant idea. Mariah Carey has not released her newest album yet, but she is planning on using a similar surprise approach as Beyoncé did.

In the newest issue of Billboard, which Carey graces the cover of, she talked about her 14th album. She began working on this album in 2010, but had to postpone the process when she became pregnant with her now almost three-year-old twins, Moroccan and Monroe.

The surprise approach will release the album’s title, track listing, artwork and music all at once via to-be-announced digital partners. “I have to be the one that announces this, especially the title,” Carey said. The albums title comes from a “personal possession of mine that’s part of an entity that I’ve had almost all my life.”

According to Us Weekly, Carey isn’t the only artist to follow in Beyonce’s footsteps. Kid Cudi also released an album without previous warning back in February.

Carey and her new manager, Jermaine Dupri, talk about the process of the album’s release, and how it didn’t always work out smoothly. There were failed singles, a failed attempt at hosting on “American Idol” and a shoulder injury. Carey isn’t worried about the success of this album, though, because she will always make music no matter what.

There’s a lot to learn about Carey and the upcoming album in this issue, which will hit stands Monday. She has a dream-team of collaborators, it won’t be her last album, it will have uptempo songs, and she has also revealed that she may be returning to TV. “I have another project that I’m so very excited about that’s finally coming to fruition,” Carey replied when asked if she’d ever return to TV. It seems 2014 will be a big year for the singer!
