Mickey Rooney’s funeral has been delayed due to a family fight over his $18,000 estate. Just days before his death this past Sunday, the iconic actor cut his eight children from his will – keeping them and his estranged wife of what little he had left.
Rooney was married eight times in total and he has been estranged from his wife, Jan Chamberlin, for two years.
People reports Rooney, who was living with his stepson Mark Rooney and his wife at the time of his death, disinherited his children Michael, Mickey Jr., Teddy, Jonelle, Jimmy, Kimmy, Kerry and Kelly Ann from his will.
On Tuesday, Chamberlin and Rooney's trustee Michael Augustine, were in court fighting over what to do with his remains. Another hearing will be held Friday, when a judge will decide who will get to make decisions over burial and funeral arrangements.
"It's a sad tale," said Augustine, LA Times reports.
Mark Rooney’s wife, Charlene, said of the family feud "Mickey was not even gone for a few hours, he had just left here on a gurney, and this ugliness started. Mickey hasn't even seen or spoken to Jan in two years, Chris in almost three years." Chris Aber is Chamberlin’s son.
