Miranda Lambert led the country music stars who won at the ACM Awards last night.
According to Rolling Stone, Lambert said, “I cannot believe this; I really didn't expect it. I was just hanging out with Trisha Yearwood back there – holy crap! And I was standing next to Sheryl Crow, a complete and utter rock star. Kacey Musgraves, she wrote the Single of the Year. Carrie Underwood's my buddy; she's a phenomenon.”
The enthusiasm did not prevent Lambert from taking part in a tribute to Merle Haggard, who was celebrating his 77th birthday. He received the academy’s Crystal Milestone Award, according to the Associated Press. Lambert won three times on Sunday, giving her a total of 18 awards from the ACM Awards. The popular recording artist walked away with her first best new female artist award in 2006. Other recording artists who walked away with awards include Keith Urban. Urban teamed with Lambert for the vocal event of the year for the song, “We Were Us.”
George Strait won the entertainer of the year award. When he accepted the award, he said acknowledged his fans, saying that they were the “best fans in the world.”
