A female body that was found in Lake Charles may be the body of a missing doctor from Kalamazoo who disappeared last December.
Police cannot identify the body until an autopsy is done, but the family of Dr. Taleka Patrick said that authorities informed them it may in fact be their daughter.
“Our family was informed that a body was found that may be our daughter Teleka Patrick," the family said in a statement to Wood TV. "We are waiting for official confirmation from the Kalamazoo Sheriff's Department and have no comment at this time. Thank you for your continued prayers -- we ask that you respect our privacy at this difficult time."
The body was pulled out of the water shortly after 7 a.m. on Sunday morning by Indiana State Police and people from the SCUBA team and Porter Fire and Rescue Department, after a fisherman told the police that he saw something suspicious.
Porter County coroner, Chuck Harris, reported to the scene and said the body was in a dark top and dark pants. An autopsy will be done in the beginning of the week.
Patrick was last seen at a Radisson Hotel, five minutes away her home, reports ABC News . Her car was later found in a ditch on the side of the road more than 100 miles away.
Police searched Lake Charles when it froze over in January and didn’t find anything.
