A passing motorist was able to safely rescue a young boy who was seen crawling across a busy four-lane road in Utah on Friday.

Police Lieutenant Dennis Vincent said that a woman pulled over and plucked the 1-year-old boy from the Brigham City road, reports Reuters. The woman then was able to get the boy safely back to his home before notifying police.

The boy had managed to slip out of his backyard where he had been playing with his 7-year-old sister and onto the road, where the speed limit is 40 miles per hour.

The mother, who has not been identified, spoke with police after the escape attempt and said she had been resting and the boy was supposed to be in his crib, according to The Associated Press. Reportedly, the sister took him out since she wanted to play.

Vincent said, "We all know how quickly kids can get away and luckily this didn't end in a tragedy."

Though the matter has been handed over to the Division of Child and Family services, charges likely won't be forthcoming.
