Mara Wilson, who played one of the children in Mrs. Doubtfire, told her Twitter followers that she will not be involved in the sequel. The actress was bombarded with questions after it was reported that director Chris Columbus and actor Robin Williams are making the project, 20 years after the original film.

As we reported late Wednesday, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that Fox 2000 is developing Mrs. Doubtfire 2. David Berenbaum, who wrote the Will Ferrell comedy Elf, is writing the new script.

While Williams and Columbus have finally got a writer that they like, at least one actress who was in the film doesn’t want anything to do with it. Wilson played one of the children Williams’ divorced dad dressed up as a maid to get back. According to ABC News, she took to Twitter to explain that she hasn’t been approached and isn’t interested.

“For the record, no, I do not have anything to do with the Mrs. Doubtfire sequel, nor will I,” she tweeted. When asked why she would turn down a million dollar pay day, she replied, “A) It wouldn't be that much, 2) I have some standards.”

Williams added, “Sequels generally suck unless they were planned as part of a trilogy or series. I think Doubtfire ended where it needed to end...There are many, many reasons I don't want to be in Mrs. Doubtfire 2. But they haven't even asked me (yet), so no need to worry.”

Wilson was a popular child star in the ‘90s, appearing in Matilda and the 1996 Miracle on 34th Street. Doubtfire was her film debut in 1993.
