Need a place to spend Easter this weekend? Why not try one of the United States’ 401 National Parks offering free admission into the park during Saturday and Sunday.
The country’s National Parks will be free to enter April 19 and 20th in honor of National Park Week, reported Nexstar Broadcasting.
“National Park Week is a great time to discover the diverse wildlife, iconic landscapes, vibrant culture, and rich history found in our national parks. Every park offers a different experience so I invite everyone to join the celebration and get to know a park,” said Jonathan B, Jarvis, the National Park Service Director.
The theme this year for National Park Week will be “Go Wild” for the fun, wildlife, culture, nature, and history of the various parks. With events running from Saturday, April 19 through Sunday April 27, National Park Week hopes to attract many people.
Offering free admission doe not happen often at the parks. As previously reported, America’s National Parks bring in a huge amount of revenue for the government and economy. Supplying 234,000 in jobs, the 401 national parks brought in $26.8 for the national economy in 2012. Additionally visitors of the park spent roughly $14.7 billion. The shut down of the parks for a short time last year due to a government shut down led to a loss of $414 million.
