Nile Rogers will be honored with the International Music Summit's top honor in May. Rogers will be receiving the IMS Legends Award at the upcoming event.

Rogers is known in the music industry as a producer, composer and guitarist. He was the lead guitarist and co-founding member with the band Chic. Chic has been around since 1976.

The awards will be held on May 21 at the Ibiza Hard Rock Hotel. Rogers, a multi-Grammy winning disco artist, will be honored during the IMS Legends Dinner, Billboard reported.

IMS partner Ben Turner talked about why Rogers was being honored with the highest award IMS has to offer. "Our love affair with Nile goes on and we are delighted he will be accepting our IMS Legends Award at the now annual industry dinner. This event is becoming a major event on the electronic calendar and in the year that Nile took the top Grammy Awards with Daft Punk, this just feels like an extension of the incredible momentum year he and electronic music is having," said Rogers.

HIs influences can be felt in the music industry even today with EDM becoming a larger influence. Modern day electronic artists are still being influenced by Rogers today. Tensnake, a.k.a. Marco Niemerski spoke to MTV about how Rogers has influenced his career.

"He's just a legend, really. There's nobody else who has produced that many hit records in the past, from David Bowie to Madonna...which was also commercially very successful. Apart from that he's a very nice person. He's very grounded; he makes it easy for you to be around him. You don't have to be very nervous," said Niemerski.
