On Lifetime’s docu-series True Tori, Dean McDermott revealed he had suicidal thoughts after his wife of seven years, Tori Spelling, found out about his infidelity.
Spelling revealed her reluctance to talk about her anger over the cheating scandal during a therapy session due to her feelings that she wanted to protect his feelings in his fragile state. He then dropped a bombshell during the session that he had contemplated suicide before seeking help in treatment.
With three months of treatment under his belt, McDermott said with conviction, "I know I will not take my life. My life means a lot to me right now, where it didn't for so many, many years...My life means something because I'm getting the help that I need, and I'm surrounded by love and support, and for the longest time, I didn't deserve it and I'm just getting a little glimmer that I do deserve it...I know I don't deserve to die. I deserve to live."
Yahoo reports his on-camera confession did halt production briefly, as the producers of the docu-series were not aware of his suicidal thoughts going into filming. They had to evaluate McDermott, who has four young children with Spelling, before they could continue to film.
Spelling was reluctant to talk about it altogether, saying “That was not something I thought needed to be addressed or talked about.”
True Tori airs Tuesday nights on Lifetime at 10pm.
