The Who’s Pete Townshend has written and recorded a song for FX Network original show The Americans.
According to Billboard, who got the exclusive scoop from the man himself, Townshend wrote the song “It Must Be Done” with the show’s composer Nathan Barr.
Townshend noted his interest in writing with Nathan Barr who composes on the cello. On writing the song the legendary guitarist stated, "Here's this couple whose whole life is about duty, duty without honor, duty without explanation. There are no accolades. They're not living a lie but doing things they find hard to do. Everybody has a part of their life that's difficult to explain.”
Townshend’s other half, Roger Daltrey has kept himself busy as well recording Going Back Home an album with former Dr. Feelgood guitarist Wilko Johnson. Though busy on individual projects, Daltrey hinted at The Who possibly recording a new album, stating it would be “inevitable.”
“It Must Be Done” is set to appear on The Americans on April 30 on FX.
