The band Rascal Flatts admitted that they did lip-sync during their performance on Sunday night at the Academy of Country Music Awards.

According to E! News, fans were not happy following Rascal Flatts' performance as they felt they might not actually be singing their song "Rewind" live.

The band was willing to own up to their fake performance on Monday night as fans cried foul. They took to Twitter to explain they actually had a good reason for lip-syncing their live performance. Their singer lost his voice just ahead of the show.

They said that after several recent performances "Gary [LeVox] lost his voice." Rascal Flatts added in the tweet that they felt it would be better to go ahead and just lip-sync "instead of canceling our commitment to do the show."

The tweet quipped that "we're obviously not very good at it" after never having done it before.

The ACM Awards did well with Blake Shelton and Luke Bryan co-hosting. To keep the award show interesting, they emulated Ellen DeGeneres by attempting to take a selfie.
