The American Country Music Awards aired on April 6 at 8 p.m. and the stars were out in full swing for a great night of awards.
The hosts of the show were “Drink a Beer” singer, Luke Bryan, and “Boys Round Here” singer, Blake Shelton. The two started off the night with jokes about fellow peers and the trouble they have been causing lately. The crowd’s reaction was very pleasing despite the jabs that were directed at Jake Owen and Shelton’s wife, Miranda Lambert.
The show got started by having a performance of The Band Perry’s new hit single “Chainsaw.” The lead singer, Kimberly Perry, came up from underneath the stage dressed all in black with tousled hair. Reid Perry and Neil Perry rocked the song on their guitars.
Other performances during the show included “This is How We Roll” by Florida Georgia Line featuring the host himself, Bryan; and also an acoustic version of “I Drive Your Truck” by Lee Brice. Eric Church also performed his new single “Hometown.”
An artist who enjoyed her night was Lambert, who won female vocalist of the year for the fifth time. In addition to performing with Strait and singing solo her new single, “Automatic,” Lambert won single of the year for “Mama’s Broken Heart,” and vocal event of the year for her performance of "We Were Us,” with Keith Urban.
There also was a big announcement on Sunday night. The awards will be hosted at the Dallas Cowboys Stadium in April instead of Las Vegas.
