Rodney Crowell releases his new album, Tarpaper Sky, on the New West label.

Rodney Crowell's Tarpaper Sky is a cross over album. On Frankie Please, this Nashville singer-songwriter throws out rhymes like, "Your p's and q's and don't and do's are all the news to light my fuse," according to the Associated Press.

The new album features 10 other tracks. The songs include “The Long Journey Home,” “Fever on the Bayou,” “Somebody’s Shadow,” and “Oh What a Beautiful World.” The album has been in the works in since 2010. According to the American Songwriter, this album brings back many of the musicians involved in Diamonds & Dirt. The new album features Rodney Crowell on lead vocals, and Eddie Bayers on drums and piano, John Hobbs on piano, Michael Rhodes on bass, and Steuart Smith on guitar and other instruments.

The album features bluesy riffs and a rockabilly. The album also features more autobiographical tunes like Grandma Loved that Old Man. Crowell won a Grammy award for Best Americana Album of the Year for Old Yellow Moon, his collaboration with Emmylou Harris.
