Scarlett Johansson may be part of the Marvel Universe, but she’s finally getting a taste of real superpowers in Lucy, the new film directed by Luc Besson. The trailer just hit the web.
The trailer doesn’t keep much of the plot hidden. We see that Johansson’s Lucy has just woken up with bandages around her stomach. She finds out that she’s had drugs put in there and she’s taken overseas. While in captivity, she learns that the drugs give her superhuman strength and powers.
Lucy then contacts a brain researcher, played by Morgan Freeman, who has tried to tap into the 90 percent of the human brain we don’t use. Apparently, Lucy is starting to figure out how to use more of her brain power.
While Lucy isn’t opening until August, fans of Johansson can see her this weekend in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. She will also be seen in the mind-bending Under the Skin from director Jonathan Glazer. In that film, she’s an alien seductress.
Lucy opens on Aug. 8.
