Search continues for South Carolina man missing from cruise ship

For the second straight day, the U.S. Coast Guard is searching for a man who jumped from a Bahamas Celebration cruise ship into the Atlantic Ocean.

According to the Sun Sentinel, authorities were notified on Sunday that James Miller of Charleston, South Carolina, jumped into the waters off the coast of Florida’s Delray Beach.

The ship turned around after someone reported seeing the 30-year-old leap over a railing.

"There were witnesses," said Celebration spokesman Glenn Ryerson. "We did our search on the water, in the approximate area where he went overboard."

Fox News reported that two years ago, a Canadian woman jumped from the Bahamas Celebration ship as it was returning to Florida. After an extensive search spanning over 7,000 square miles, the woman was not found and rescuers called off the efforts.

For this search, a Coast Guard cutter, two air crews and various small boats were deployed to look for the missing man.

The FBI is assisting in an investigation into his disappearance.
