Between June 25th and July 6th, the Arctic Monkeys have signed on to join the lineup of Summerfest, with the exception of June 30th.
The musical festival takes place in Milwaukee spanning over several days. Rick Springfield, Brother Ali, Lake Street Dive and more have been added to the previously announced lineup consisting of Motley Crue, Fall Out Boy, Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars, Brad Paisley, Outkast, Paramore, Usher and more, reports JSOnline.
AM is the Arctic Monkeys’ latest album and even made it onto Rolling Stone’s list of the 50 best Albums of 2013. The band won the BRIT award for British Album of the Year and Best British Group.
Upon receiving the award, Alex Turner of the Arctic Monkeys said, “ "That rock & roll, it just won't go away."
"It might hibernate from time to time and sink back into the swamp. I think the cyclical nature of the universe in which it exists demands it adheres to some of its rules. . . Yeah, that rock & roll, it seems like it's fading away sometimes, but it will never die. And there's nothing you can do about it," according to Rolling Stone.
Lake Street Dive, one of the latest additions to the festival lineup, put out their album in February called Bad Self Portraits and made it onto Rolling Stone’s 10 Artists You Need to Know list.
We wanted to make music that would garner younger fans, but we grew up listening to the Beatles and ended up playing music our parents love. We didn't think about demographics, just 'let's play pop,'" Rachael Price, lead vocalist told Rolling Stone.
The year 1968 marked the first official Summerfest and as of today, attracts over 900,000 fans a year. At this year’s Summerfest, fans can expect 11 different stages set up for a total of 800 artists—what more could you ask for?
