A teenager in North Carolina poisoned her grandmother on Easter Sunday because she confiscated her cell phone.
According to the Fayetteville Observer, authorities said that Tyt’ana Johnson, allegedly dumped insecticide into a cooking pot of collard greens while her grandmother was at church.
The 17-year-old’s grandmother, Gaylon Moody and friend Clifton Evans both became ill after eating the tainted greens.
Evans said that he experienced numbness in his fingers, toes and face and both he and Moody were taken to a nearby hospital.
Doctors initially thought that they had a stomach virus but after closer inspection, suspected that they were poisoned.
When Evans questioned the teen about the poisoning, she allegedly apologized to him and said that she poisoned the food to get back at her grandmother.
“She got mad because I took her cellphone from her, and she poisoned my food," Moody said. "I'll tell you one thing: It ain't good to feel."
The Associated Press reported that Johnson has been charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder.
Both victims are said to be recovering.
