After escaping its fenced in year at its home in Texas, a small dog has been found more than 1,000 away from home just outside of southwest Ohio.

According to Huffington Post, the 3 year old Chihuahua-Dachshun mix dog dug a hole under the fence to escape the backyard. The small dog, Corbin, was found outside of an animal shelter in Hamilton, Ohio, tied to a bench.

"It sounds like one of those too-good-to-be-true stories. This isn't the first time he dug a hole under the fence. One time he was waiting for us on our front porch and the other two times we had to pick him up from the local pound," Corbin's owner, Mike Saiz, said to The Cincinnati Enquirer.

The Examiner reported that a woman tying the run away dog to the bench was shown on a surveillance camera. Luckily enough, the shelter was able to scan Corbin for a microchip and discovered he was from Texas and were able to contact the owners.

Corbin's owners are left with confusion and are unsure how he got all the way to Ohio since it seems nearly impossible for a dog his size to travel over 1,000 miles away from home on his own.
