Continuing to alternate wins the entire round, the New York Rangers beat the Philadelphia Flyers 4-2 in their game 5 meeting in the Stanley Cup playoffs.

In the first period, the Rangers got an early lead from defensemen Marc Staal as he scored against Mason at 11:53.

Steve Mason continued to play a strong game after his return to the ice in game 4, he even managed to stop 18 shots, reports ESPN NHL.

The second period was huge for the Rangers as Brad Richards scored his 30th career playoff goal at 8:07 and Dom Moore scored with a semi-break at 16:20, making the score 3-0.

Just as the period was nearing an end, Vincent Lecavalier of the Flyers snuck in a quick goal with just 32 seconds to go in the second.

Some big name celebrities were at the Garden, not including the ones skating around on the ice. Susan Sarandon, Jim Carey, Spike Lee and Whoopi Goldberg all sat tight for game 5 to show some blueshirt support.

The Flyers seemed to be pushing for a comeback when Giroux shot and scored with 1:29 left in game 5. The Flyers decided to pull Mason for an extra guy on the ice—bad decision.

With 15 seconds on the clock, the rangers took a 4-2 win with an empty net goal by Brian Boyle. The Rangers now lead the series, 3-2.

Henrik Lundqvist made 24 saves during the afternoon game, according to NY Daily News.

Game 6 will be played on Tuesday at Philadelphia. If the Rangers win, the Flyers will remain in their hometown while the Ranger will move on to round 2.
