Captain America held the number one spot at the Box Office since its opening weekend three weeks ago but the newly released, The Other Woman has taken over the title for number 1.
According to Rentrak projections, The Other Woman pulled in more than $24 million this weekend.
The film pulled in more than what analyst expected, which was $17 million notes USA Today.
The Other Woman was heavily advertised and featured a star studded female cast that included Cameron Diaz, Leslie Mann, Kate Upton and rapper Nicki Minaj.
The comedy tells the story of a man’s wife who teams up his two mistresses to ruin his life.
The movie received the worst reviews out of all new releases but the movie was a hit with female viewers notes the LA Times. 75% of those who went to see the film were women and they gave the film an average score of B+.
Captain America came in second place at the Box Office pulling in a little over $16 million.
Sony’s drama Heaven is For Real took the number three spot with $13.8 million for its second week out.
In the fourth spot was Rio 2, which is another 20 Century Fox film. Rounding out the top 5 is the newly released Brick Mansions, which featured the late Paul Walker.
