The Legendary Roots Crew has made the first song from ...And Then You Shoot Your Cousin, their 16 album, available for online streaming.
A short 30-second preview of the song, "When The People Cheer," was released yesterday on the Hot 97 website before premiering in full on the radio station then appearing on Soundcloud.

The track has drawn comparisons to the group's 2011 album undun. Roots frontman Black Thought talked to XXL about the similarities. He said "it’s another concept album in the spirit of undun, but it’s not just about just one kind of character, we create quite a few different characters in this record. It’s satire, but in that satire it’s an analysis of some of the stereotypes perpetuated in not only the hip-hop community, but in the community."
Between Undun and &TYSYC The Roots released a collaboration with Elvis Costello titled Wise Up Ghost last September. The Roots will have another team up when they back Snoop Dogg at the annual Roots Picnic scheduled for May 31.
Despite their busy schedule The Roots have remained with Jimmy Fallon through his transition from Late Night to The Tonight Show earlier this year.
The full album will be released on May 13.
