The Wu-Tang Clan's upcoming album, The Wu - Once Upon A Time In Shaolin, has been secretly recorded for the past few years. Finally, the group is prepared to release the album but in a very unique way. “We’re about to sell an album like nobody else sold it before,” says Robert “RZA” Diggs in an interview with FORBES. “We’re about to put out a piece of art like nobody else has done in the history of music. We’re making a single-sale collector’s item. This is like somebody having the scepter of an Egyptian king.”
The plan is to send the album on a tour, as an exhibition for fans to hear the music. Each exhibition will cost somewhere between $30 & $50 and visitors will go through extensive security to make sure that no one re-records the album. After the tour, Wu-Tang Clan will make the album available for purchase at a price somewhere in the millions. According to the album's website, The Wu - Once Upon A Time In Shaolin will be presented in a "hand carved nickel-silver box designed by the British Moroccan artist Yahya".
There is no word yet on when the tour will begin.
