America may love Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, but the two popular comedians are going to have an uphill battle at the box office for their next film together. Their The Nest has been scheduled to open on the same day as Star Wars: Episode VII.
The Nest is being directed by Pitch Perfect’s Jason Moore and was written by Saturday Night Live veteran Paula Pell. Fey and Poehler play sisters who discover that their parents are selling their childhood home, so they prepare to throw one last huge party at the house.
According to Box Office Mojo’s schedule, Universal has decided to schedule The Nest for Dec. 18, 2015. That’s the exact same day that Disney’s Star Wars: Episode VII will be opening, so there’s little chance that The Nest will win the box office that weekend.
Poehler recently won a Golden Globe for NBC’s Parks and Recreation, which was renewed for a seventh season. Fey was recently seen in Muppets Most Wanted and Admission. Her next movie is Shawn Levy’s This Is Where I Leave You, which opens in September.
In other release date news, Foxcatcher with Steve Carell and Channing Tatum has been scheduled for Nov. 14.
