Television shows have become a growing phenomenon over the years. So popular that an entire empire (Netflix) has been created out of the audience's need to watch the show in its entirety in one sitting. Much time is spent watching the shows by their loyal fans, who compare their lives to and sympathize with the characters on the show.
With this appreciation for television shows, the final episode of a series gives viewers the possibility to be at peace with the way the characters ended up. As if to assume the characters will go on living past the final wrap, fans appreciate when a series ending gives a positive and reasonable conclusion. That said, there have been more than a few times that finales have left fans unsatisfied, as if all the time spent watching the show had been made completely worthless.
