The man who made his name as a body horror maestro but has since moved onto a more subtle horror, David Cronenberg, has a new film titled Maps to the Stars, and we have the first full trailer for you below.
According to Ain't It Cool News reports that the film will hit theaters at some point before the year ends, possibly at Cannes Film Festival in May. The film also stars a whole slew of recognizable faces, including Mia Wasikoska, Julianne Moore, John Cusack, Olivia Williams, and even Carrie Fisher.
It's a more stacked cast than any previous Cronenberg film, but it makes sense given the film's focus on the superficial world of pampered movie stars that is Hollywood. The plot summary, according to Slash Film, reads something like this:
Wasikoska stars as a woman with a visible facial scar that scores an assistant job in Hollywood for an actress played by Moore. Their story intersects with the lives of an aspiring actor and limo driver (Pattinson) who is in turn connected to the type of show business dynasty family who would have a son enter drug rehab at age 9.
It's an awful lot of characters and complex story to fit into a logline, but there's my best shot of it. It sounds darkly comedic, but knowing Cronenberg, it'll probably turn into something deeply unsettling.
