Fun-filled vacations quickly turn deadly when aliens and evil run a muck in the new films hitting theaters this week. A few characters try to start anew but get drawn back into their old life. One of them, a superhero, has the opportunity to save the world.

While trying to live a normal life, Steve Rodgers is pulled back into crime fighting when a S.H.I.E.L.D. member and the stability of the world is threatened in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. As Captain America and Black Widow set out to put a stop to Winter Soldier’s evil agenda, they meet a new partner, Falcon. Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L. Jackson, Robert Redford, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Cobie Smulders and Georges St-Pierre star in the PG-13 adventure. The action film is running in 2D and 3D theaters for two hours and eight minutes.

Recently released from a 12-year stint in prison for staying quiet, a thief goes on a mission to get the money he believes he’s owed in Dom Hemingway. Now back in the real world, the safe-cracker tries to establish a relationship with his estranged daughter, but ultimately finds himself back in a life of crime. Jude Law stars in the one hour and thirty-three minute comedic drama. The limited released film is rated R for sex, nudity, language, violence and drugs.

Two men decide to go on a trip around the world and blog about it in Afflicted. During their adventure, one of them is stricken with something evil. The limited released horror film runs for one hour and twenty-five minutes. It’s rated R for language and violence.

A small town radio station is held hostage by a worker that was just let go in Alan Partridge. The station’s star DJ, a former TV host and author, must work with the police to keep the siege under control. The limited released comedy plays for one hour and twenty-nine minutes. It’s rated R for language, violence and nudity.

A computer virus puts civilization at risk in Goodbye World. In the limited released drama, a young family’s green, sustainable home becomes a shelter for old friends as they face the end of the world. The new living situation brings up tensions from their past. Adrian Grenier, Gaby Hoffmann and Ben McKenzie star in the unrated, one hour and forty minute film.

Halle Berry’s 2010 Golden Globe nominated role of a woman with multiple personalities is back in theaters this week with Frankie & Alice. The limited released biopic is based on a true story. The psychological drama runs for one hour and forty-two minutes.

A husband goes missing during a Caribbean honeymoon in In the Blood. His wife, a trained fighter, goes to great lengths to find out what happened to him. The limited released action film runs for one hour and forty-eight minutes. It’s rated R for violence and language.

An alien takes on the body of a beautiful woman in Under the Skin. She uses her sexuality to nab humans. The sci-fi film shows the perspective of an alien on the human world. Scarlett Johansson stars in the one hour and forty-eight minute thriller. The film is rated R for violence, nudity, sex and language. It’s available in limited theaters but expands on April 11.

A family encounters unexplainable events during a camping trip in Alien Abduction. The thriller is based on real stories about the disappearances in North Carolina’s Brown Mountain Lights. The unrated film is available in limited theaters.

A man’s happy life with his wife is tormented by a family curse in Jinn. A mental patient may be the only one that can help him understand what is happening to him. The PG-13 supernatural thriller is running in limited theaters for one hour and thirty-seven minutes.

Murder on a mysterious island is the focus of the documentary The Galapagos Affair: Satan Came to Eden. Back in the 1930’s, a German philosopher and his lover found a deserted island known as Floreana Island and decided to live there. Once word got out of its beauty, others flocked there. After a while, those that ventured there went missing and, to this day, no one knows what happened to them. The unrated, two hour film is voiced by Cate Blanchett, Diane Kruger, Connie Nielsen, Sebastian Koch, Thomas Kretschmann, Gustaf Skarsgård and Josh Radnor.

Follow the life of a sex addict in Nymphomaniac: Volume II. This sequel to the film released on March 21st, showcases the troubles in Joe’s adult life. The unrated drama stars Charlotte Gainsbourg, Stellan Skarsgård, Shia LaBeouf, Jamie Bell and Willem Dafoe. It’s running in limited theaters for two hours and four minutes.

The French film, The Players (Les Infidèles), is made up of a series of eight short films. In each, the two main actors play different characters who are involved in philandering and cheating. The unrated comedy is subtitled in English and is playing in limited theaters for one hour and forty-nine minutes.

Two cops from different walks of life are forced to work together in On the Other Side of the Tracks. The two combine their resources to find the killer of a high profile executive’s wife. The one hour and thirty-six minute French film is subtitled in English. The limited released comedy crime film is rated R for language, sex, nudity and violence.

Get an inside look at an endangered species with Island of Lemurs: Madagascar. The amazing creatures arrived on the island off the coast of Africa over a million years ago. Now many different species exist, hopping, jumping and climbing their way across the island, but they soon may be gone. The G-rated documentary is narrated by Morgan Freeman. It’s playing in IMAX theaters for thirty-nine minutes.

Otherworldly creatures and spirits torment characters in a few of this week’s new films. On April 11, evil comes creeps into theaters again with Oculus. Also, debuting next week is Kevin Costner’s latest, Draft Day.
