According to a unique new study social media websites, specifically Twitter, are helping doctors and researchers find out more information about migraines. By being able to view what people are discussing about migraines they can better understand the painful medical condition.

According to the Liberty Voice a new study by the Journal of Medical Internet Research declared Twitter an important tool that provides researchers with tremendous amounts of information about migraines and about how people are affected in their everyday lives.

In the study researchers collected 21,741 tweets about migraines and after discarding 35 percent the rest were used and analyzed. They were able to gain valuable insight about what people were really saying about migraines.

According to Medical Daily Dr. Alexandre DaSilva, senior author and director of the Headache and Orofacial Pain Effort at the University of Michigan said, "It's the first known study to show the instant and broad impact of migraine attacks on modern patients' lives by decoding manually each one of their individual attack-related tweets."
