Authorities said an 11-year-old girl died Saturday after she was shot and killed by her two-year-old brother while they played with a gun in their Philadelphia home.

According to CBS, the toddler accidently shot his sister Jamara Stevens, with the loaded firearm while their mother, Tiffany Goldwire, was in the bathroom.

Police said that four siblings ranging in ages from two to 14 were all in a bedroom playing with a gun that was brought to the home by Goldwire’s male friend.

The two-year-old pointed the loaded, cocked firearm at his sister and the gun discharged. She was hit in the arm and the bullet traveled through her chest to her heart. She was rushed to a nearby hospital where she died a short time later.

WPVI reported that investigators found the weapon, a 357 Magnum, at the scene.

It is becoming far too common that children left alone, even for a moment, have access to loaded weapons and the results are almost always tragic.

It is unknown at this time if and when charges will be filed.
