It was recently announced that Tyson Foods is voluntarily recalling more than 75,000 pounds of chicken nuggets. The recall comes after consumers have complained about finding pieces of plastic in their chicken.
After receiving several complaints Tyson launched an investigation and found that a faulty scraper in one of the blending machines was responsible for contaminating the chicken with plastic. The chicken was sold exclusively at Sam’s Clubs.
The Liberty Voice reports that According to the U.S Department of Agriculture (USDA), this is a class II recall. This means that the chicken nuggets present a health hazard that has a remote probability of causing consumers to experience health consequences if they have consumed the product.
According to CNN Money the recalled items include 5-pound bags of frozen, white meat chicken nuggets and 20-pound bags of frozen fully cooked chicken nugget-shaped breast pattie fritters with rib meat. They were produced on Jan. 26 and Feb.16, on a single line at one of the company's 40 chicken production facilities.
