A sorority at the University of Connecticut has been suspended as authorities investigate allegations of hazing, according to officials at the university.
Delta Zeta sorority was suspended on Wednesday after being accused of forcing men to drink alcohol off each other’s bodies, eat dog treats, wear women’s thong underwear and paint their bodies, reports The Huffington Post.
A letter was sent to the members of Delta Zeta from Kimberly Hill, the associate director of community standards at UConn, stating that the sorority would be placed under interim suspension “until this student conduct matter is resolved”.
“This action is preliminary in nature and is utilized when information indicates that the presence of your organization on campus could pose a threat to the health and safety of the campus community," Hill said, according to The Courant.
Under this suspension, the sorority is banned from hosting/participating in any activities or having another organization represent them.
Delta Zeta is the third greek organization at UConn to be suspended in a matter of months. In March, the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority and the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity were both suspended after hazing allegations
