An Upper East Side jewelry store was robbed Friday afternoon in broad daylight. The Margo Manhattan jewelry store has had a number of celebrity customers, Kate Winslet, Beyoncé, and Selena Gomez.
Helping out what she thought to be a customer, Jennifer McLogan, the manager of the jewelry store, was later choked, thrown to the ground, and tied up in a back room while the robber stole about $54,000 worth of jewelry, reported CBS New York.
The suspect took the items located in the safe including a $45,000 18-karat white gold necklace with an amethyst, according to Eyewitness News. Using the manager’s key to open a display case, the man stole jewelry from here before taking McLogan’s purse along with her credit cards and cash.
Most notably known was a silver chain and pendant was stolen. Beyoncé wore the necklace in her music video for “Blow.”
In addition to the store manager, the project manager also ran into the thief when opened the door to the back room where the incident had occurred. As a result, the suspect ran out fleeing the store.
Both manager’s are working with authorities to release a sketch of the suspect.
