On Friday the Obama Administration finally responded to a petition demanding pop star Justin Bieber be deported from the United States.
NY Daily News reports that the Believing in Immigration Reform petition currently has over 270,000 signatures from concerned citizens, and quickly achieved the 100,000 mark to warrant a response. It claims the 20 year old Canadian is a “terrible influence on our nation’s youth.”
The White House responded with “Sorry to disappoint, but we won’t be commenting on this one,” along with “We’ll leave it to others to comment on Mr. Bieber’s case.”
According to Daily Mail, the White House took much longer than the usual 30 day response time.
The Obama Administration chose to use the statement as a means to express their concerns over immigration reform affirming that “Too many employers game the system by hiring undocumented workers, and 11 million people are living in the shadows.”
Currently Bieber pleads not guilty to a number of charges including a DUI and resisting arrest. The trial is expected to begin May 5 in Florida. No plea deal has been offered at this time.
