An Illinois woman is suing the condo company her husband worked for claiming that he was attacked and killed on the job by a swan.
The New York Daily News noted that Amy Hensley filed a suit stating that her husband Anthony, was killed by a swan while doing his job tending to birds at the condominium complex.
The suit goes on to say that the assault by the bird two years ago "caused or contributed to" his death.
Authorities believe that Hensley’s husband may have gotten too close to the swan or its nesting area before is decided to attack. Investigators say that the bird turned on him and Hensley rolled off his kayak.
He then fought to get to the surface, but the swan continued to attack.
A witness called paramedics, who arrived and rushed the 37-year-old to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
NBC Chicago reported that an autopsy on the man ruled his death an accident. However, in the lawsuit, the plaintiff said that the company violated Animal Control laws and should have known that the bird posed such a threat.
