Director Bryan Singer probably isn’t very happy about this. While there have been images of Evan Peters in the Quicksilver costume for X-Men: Days of Future Past, the character’s first introduction is coming via a promotional tie-in with Hardee’s. Yes, the first time X-Men fans will see the character is him eating a fast food breakfast.
The 30-second spot debuted online Monday, featuring Peters wearing the costume, which includes goggles, a silver jacket and silver hair. He’s eating an “X-tra Bacon, Egg & Cheese Biscuit” in the spot.
The commercial actually makes the character look a bit cheesey, which probably isn’t the way Singer wanted to introduce the character. As HitFix points out, photos of Peters have surfaced, but Quicksilver hasn’t been seen in any of the trailers for Days of Future Past yet.
Hardee’s is one of Fox’s promotional partners for Days of Future Past, so this is actually the second commercial featuring an X-Men character. The company also has one with Mystique, who’s played by Jennifer Lawrence. Obviously, the real JLaw is a bit too busy to do commercials, so she’s not in it.
Days of Future Past opens on May 23.
The Quicksilver character will also be appearing in Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Age of Ultron with Aaron Taylor-Johnson playing him.
