Vladimir Mehul Baptiste, resident of Baltimore, has been arrested for three cases of second degree attempted murder after crashing a truck into a local TV station.
The incident occurred around noon Tuesday. The man reportedly tried to force his way into the main doors of the news station while yelling he is God, but the guards refused to let him through. He then began striking the stolen vehicle into the wall of the building until finally crashing through.
One of the news stations production managers Michael Marion described the incident in detail. βHe had smashed through the first section and then all that was between truck and him was the main door, heard another smash and the last thing I saw was the truck fully in the lobby,β he said according to The New York Daily News .
The Washington Post noted, Police officials discovered Baptiste had a golf club as a weapon and was hiding on the second-floor editing room. He was siting watching TV news reports of the incident. The incident ended at approximately 4:35 p.m. after police took him away. No one was harmed.
The results from a psychiatric test Baptiste took Tuesday revealed that the man suffers from mental illness. He is currently being housed at the Baltimore County Detention Center.
