The parents of Ethan Couch, the teen who killed four people after drunkenly getting behind the wheel of a car, will have to shell out over $2 million for one teen left paralyzed.
According to The Associated Press, the "affluenza" teen's parents' liability insurer will pay out over $1 million in cash into a trust for Sergio Molina. The rest of the settlement will come in the form of two annuities.
Molina survived getting hit by the car but was left only being able to smile and blink, his family says. The Couchs are in the process of dealing with the families of those who were either killed or injured due to their son's drunken driving spree. Four people were killed and 12 were left injured.
Six total families have agreed to settlement terms with Ethan's parents, while one family is seeking to take their case to trial.
Back in April, it was reported that his parents are only paying 5 percent of the mental health facility's fee. Ethan was sentenced to time at the North Texas State Hospital in lieu of any jail time.
The facility normally costs $715 a day, but the Couchs only are paying $1,170 a month.
