It appears conservative Ann Coulter was only trying to poke a little fun with her Twitter response to the first lady’s photo on Sunday. However, the attempt did not go over quite so well with all of its audience.

The Wrap reports that Coulter tweeted an image of herself with a sign that read “#BringBackOurCountry.” While the post was meant to be a response to the tweeted image of Michelle Obama holding a “#BringBackOurGirls” sign, it was soon apparent that many people found the post to be in poor taste. Such people then began creating their own signs on Coulter’s picture, now making her the punch line of her own joke.

According to Gawker, the initial hashtag used by Michelle Obama was created to spread awareness of the 234 young women who were recently taken hostage in Nigeria. The girls were kidnapped by an Islamist group known as Boko Haram.

Coulter’s original photo was accompanied by a tweet that read, “My hashtag contribution to world affairs.”

Here are just a few examples of the types of responses, which Coulter’s photo generated…
