Malaysia says it will release a report of the investigation of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 this Thursday.
On March 8, the Boeing 777 jet that was going from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to Beijing disappeared. The plane had 239 passengers and crew on board. Defense Minister Hishammuddin Hussein said he will be releasing a report of the investigation.
Radar and satellite data show that jet veered off course. The analysis indicates that it likely that it ran out of fuel off of western Australia, according to the Associated Press.
Authorities believe that real-time tracking is key in understanding how the plane disappeared. Malaysia's Transport Ministry can make a recommendation to the International Civil Aviation Organization, the U.N. body that oversees global aviation, according to Reuters.
The air search was called off this week. The next phase of the search is an underwater hunt. That search could go on for as long as a year. Hishammuddin, who is also acting transport minister, said he will go to Australia next week to discuss the next step.
