Instagram had no bigger celebrity advocate than Rihanna, whose constant image sharing on the service often sparked controversy. After recently having her account shut down however, Rihanna has decided to leave Instagram for good.
Earlier this month, her Instagram page, which was under the name “BadGirlRiRi,” suddenly disappeared without reason. That came just days after she posted images from her topless photoshoot for Lui magazine, which were then taken down by the no-nudity overseers at Instagram headquarters.
However, a new Instagram profile called “BadGirlRiRi_Again” surfaced, which made some fans hope that she was back. It turns out that she was not, as E! News pointed out. The “We Found Love” singer took to Twitter to explain that this page was not her and that she no longer has an Instagram page.
Instagram had previously insisted that “BadGirlRiRi” was shut down by mistake. “This account was mistakenly caught in one of our automated systems and very briefly disabled,” the service told E!. “We apologize for any inconvenience.”
Still, Rihanna had a great run on Instagram, keeping herself and the service in headlines. She said in March that her mother yelled at her for posting racy photos on the site. In addition, she did once help in the arrests of two men thanks to one photo last fall, in which she was holding a slow loris in Thailand.
From now on, it looks like her fans will have to follow her on Twitter to keep up with Rihanna.
