Benedict Cumberbatch, Tye Sheridan and Will Poulter are signed on to star in the upcoming The Yellow Birds. Yellow Birds is being billed an in Iraq war drama.
Cumberbatch is known for his work in the most recent Star Trek franchise and Sherlock which airs on BBC.
Variety reported that the storyline will feature the story of two soldiers. Cumberbatch and Sheridan will be playing the soldiers who meet at boot camp before they deploy to Iraq.
David Lowery who is known for his work on Ain't Them Bodies Saints will be directing the film from a script that he wrote.
Entertainment Weekly added that Story Mining and Supply Co. acquired the rights to the novel, with the same title, which the movie is based off of and that the company helped when it came to writing the project.
Portions of this novel was autobiographical which was written by Kevin Powers. Powers served as an Army machine gunner over in Iraq after he joined the Army when he was 17.
The novel was published back in 2012 and was a finalist for the National Book Award.
