The man who has carried on through countless line-ups, Black Sabbath’s only constant member Tony Iommi states their show at Hyde Park in July could be the band’s very last show.
Talking with Metal Hammer U.K. the heavy metal riff master stated that Black Sabbath’s headlining gig at the Barcleycard British Summer Time could be the band’s last show ever. Black Sabbath are scheduled to headline the festival on July 4 with Soundgarden, Faith No More, and Motorhead.
"It could be the last ever Sabbath show,” the guitarist admits. “I don't want it to be, but there's nothing really planned touring-wise after that show, so for all we know that could be it really. Iommi was diagnosed with lymphoma in 2012, which he also admitted is a factor. Although in recovery, the guitar icon only finished his treatment in March, and doesn’t think he would be able to tour to the extent they did in support of 13.
We won’t give up all hope yet, as we reported in January, although no plans had been discussed of the band after the end of their European tour, both Ozzy Osbourne and Iommi were hopeful of making another album together.
