The terrorist group Boko Haram has struck again and killed at least 150 people when it attacked a village that was being used as a military base.
According to Agence France-Presse, local senator Ahmed Zanna said that the death toll could actually be closer to around 300 people.
CNN reported that witnesses said some of victims killed during the assault at the Nigerian village were burned alive.
Gamboru Ngala is where military troops had set up a base to search for hundreds of schoolgirls the group abducted last month from the Government Girls’ Secondary School.
The latest violence erupted after troops were deployed to an area where the girls were reportedly found. The reports turned out to be false.
After Boko Haram ambushed Warabe village and kidnapped eight more girls Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan accepted offers from the U.S. for assistance in locating the teens.
Nigerian officials are offering a reward for information that leads to the rescue of the girls.
