Authorities have said that suspected Boko Haram gunman have captured eight more girls from a village in northeast Nigeria overnight.
According to Reuters, the kidnapped girls ranged in age from 12 to 15.
“They were many, and all of them carried guns. They came in two vehicles painted in army color. They started shooting in our village,”' Lazarus Musa, a resident of Warabe said. “The Boko Haram men were entering houses, ordering people out of their houses.”
The latest kidnappings come after the Islamic extremist group abducted more than 200 students from the Government Girls’ Secondary School in Chibok, Borno State on April 14.
On Monday, a video surfaced of a man claiming to be Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau. In the video, he said that there is a market for the kidnapped schoolgirls and threatened to sell them.
Shekau also said that the group is against Western education. FOX News noted that the Boko Haram name means "Western education is sinful."
The Nigerian government has drawn much criticism for not yet finding and rescuing the kidnapped schoolgirls. President Goodluck Jonathan has said that he does not know where they are but everything is being done to locate them.
