A three-year-old boy was rescued by a bystander after the stolen SUV he was riding in crashed in the West Englewood neighborhood of Chicago Saturday night.
NBC Chicago reports that the crash occurred at 11:45 p.m. Police said that after the SUV crashed, the driver ran off. Thankfully, a citizen happened to be walking by and saw the child in the SUV. The Good Samaritan took the boy out of the vehicle and performed CPR.
ABC affiliate WLS reports that a police sergeant arrived to help and the two did resuscitate the child. Paramedics arrived and took him to the University of Chicago's Comer Children's Hospital.
Police told NBC that the boy is currently in stable condition. His mother said that she knows the person who drove the car. She did know that her son was with the person at the time of the accident.
Police have also discovered that the SUV was stolen. They do not have a suspect in custody and are still searching for the driver.
