Canadian author Farley Mowat died at age 92 at his home in Port Hope, Ontario.
Mowat wrote 25 books, and his short stories appeared in Atlantic Monthly and Maclean’s, according to the Global News. Mowat was also known for his 1963 book, Never Cry Wolf, which was adapted for film and starred Brian Dennehy and Charles Martin Smith.
Mowat wrote about nature. According to CBC, he said, "My thoughts can be expressed quite simply. I think it is a disastrous, quite stupid, idiotic concept, and should be eliminated immediately. I have very strong feelings that national parks. provincial parks, any kind of parks, that are theoretically set up to provide for the protection of nature, in some form or another, should be respected absolutely and ultimately and human beings should be kept out of them as much as possible."
The author was born in Belleville, Ontario and raised in Richmond Hill of Toronto. Mowat’s death was confirmed by Random House Canada.
Mowat is survived by his wife, Claire and children, David and Sandy.
