A Canadian climber was rescued on Wednesday after becoming stranded Tuesday night on Longs Peak in Rocky Mountain National Park while trying to descend.

Samuel Frappier, from Quebec, required rescue by a crew of 28 people as he lacked the proper climbing gear or experience while climbing with a friend up the more than 14,000-foot tall peak, reports ABC 7. The 19-year-old only wore tennis shoes and cotton clothing for the trek, but luckily he at least had his cell phone, which he used to call for help after getting separated from his friend.

RMNP officials said that Frappier was rescued just before 6 p.m. local time and that he was eventually flown to the Upper Beaver Meadows so he could be transported to a hospital by an ambulance. The rest of the rescue crews still on the peak will be pulled out "as weather conditions allow."

According to CBC News, officials released a statement before the rescue noting that Frappier, who spent the night on Broadway Ledge, was lucky as the Peak didn't get any moisture while he was stuck.
