CBS has announced that they will be picking up five new shows but what comes as a surprise to many is that the network will not be picking up the How I Met Your Mother spin off, How I Met Your Dad.

AP reported that on Wednesday CBS released their upcoming fall schedule which included five new series, only one being a non-drama show for the network.

CBS topper Nina Tassler explained that the spin-off show just didn't work out. "We have an extraordinary track record of retooling shows. We tried to reach out and engage them about redoing the pilot, but that it’s just not happening. You run into these kinds of issues. You hope they can resolve themselves. They haven’t," said Tassler.

Entertainment Weekly added that the series was set to star Greta Gerwig as the main character and the show was being written and produced by Carter Bays and Craig Thomas, who are known for their work on How I Met Your Mother.
