After eight years, Chelsea Handler’s late-night talk show Chelsea Lately is set to end Tuesday, August 26 with an hour-long live event.
“I myself am more surprised than anyone that I was able to hold down a job for seven years, and it was a fantastic seven years. I will always look back at my time on E! as most people look back at their time in college. I’m glad I went,” Handler said, according to Gawker.
Handler hasn’t been shy about her unhappiness with the network recently.
“Chelsea intends to leave when her contract expires,” Handler’s manager, Irving Azoff, told The Hollywood Reporter back in March. “She hired me to figure out her life after E!. We have at least seven suitors and many ideas.”
The show has been on air since 2007, and the network intends to send Handler’s show off with a “month-long” celebration including “special episodes” and “surprise guests,” reports NY Daily News.
The show is ending four months before Handler’s contract officially expires.
