After guns rights activists brought rifles into a Texas store, Chipotle has decided to speak out and urge customers not to bring their guns into restaurants.
Though Chipotle admits it normally follows local laws when it comes to firearms, the restaurant decided to speak up when gun rights advocates visited a Chipotle in Dallas bringing in their rifles with them, reports The Associated Press.
The statement notes that "the display of firearms in our restaurants has now created an environment that is potentially intimidating or uncomfortable for many of our customers."
Group Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America started a petition as a result of the activists' actions, seeking other stores to follow in the footsteps of Chipotle and Starbucks, who are asking customers to leave their guns out of the store.
Last week, the Denver-based company announced that they would begin to feature cups with mini-stories written by well-known authors.
The idea for the short stories came to author Jonathan Safran Foer because he was bored while eating and so he decided to contact CEO Steve Ells about the idea. Some writers on board include Malcolm Gladwell, George Saunders, Michael Lewis and Toni Morrison.
