Chris Brown was sentenced to one year in Los Angeles county jail after he admitted to violating his probation.
Brown confessed that he violated probation stemming from an assault charge in Washington, D.C., and L.A. County Superior Court Judge James Brandlin gave him the max sentence he is able to that doesn't require sending Brown to state prison, reports the Los Angeles Times.
Still, despite the 365-day sentence, there is a good chance the rapper could be out of jail as soon as this weekend, according to his lawyer, Mark Geragos. Brown has already served 234 days and could be eligible for early release, but how soon he will get out will be dependent on jail overcrowding issues, notes CNN.
Brandlin also ruled that Brown's probation, which was the result of his 2009 assault on then-girlfriend Rihanna, will be reinstated. The rapper would be required to make biweekly psychiatric visits, finish his community service and not touch medical marijuana.
As previously reported, at the beginning of May, Brown was required to spend at least another week in jail while the probation case got worked out after he finished traveling across the country over the D.C. assault charge. At the time it was reported, Brown looked worn out.
